The Feminist Dialogue: Navigating Spaces of Empowerment

Ideas and perspectives make the landscape of the world evolve. With changing times, we witness changing minds. On one hand, while we have come a long way, with tremendous developments and revolutionary movements, we can’t deny the deeply rooted prejudices, belief systems, oppressive structures and practices that are still prevalent.
As members of the human race, the bare minimum and the least we should expect is to feel safe which is fostered by creating such safe spaces. These spaces can refer to the physical walled ones such as the workspace, school, college, home or open like the public arena. Furthermore, abstract spaces or the social, political and cultural spheres also come into the picture.
Years of imbalanced power dynamics, discrimination and gender and class inequalities have projected the ugly side of the conventional style in which the society has been functioning. This leads to the crying need for adopting various strategies by which one can possibly empower oneself and others. To involve discussions on building confidence, practicing active listening, focussing on collaborative approaches, promoting solidarity among women, and challenging harmful societal norms, self introspection and reflection can play a crucial role in the same.
Humans collectively must function as a testament of inclusivity with respect to identities and communities.
Feminism is not at all, only about females, in the very same manner, patriarchy is not only about men.
As a system, as members of this unit, the prime responsibility lies in the fact that we must encourage both individual and collective growth, for the long term sustainability of it.
To fairly conclude, adaptation to new challenges is the foremost point to be kept in mind while navigating through the spaces while empowering them.
